Southlake Cake Smash pictures were so much fun!I had such a wonderful time photographing Samuel’s first birthday photos! He is such a sweet little boy! His photo session included first birthday portraits, a smash cake, and a bath to wash off the cake.

To our surprise, Samuel wasn’t too crazy about cake frosting, however he loved playing with the candle or any topping we placed on the cake. It didn’t matter that he stayed pretty clean during the cake portion!

For his bath session, we realized he liked the empty tub much better than one filled with bubbles and water. In this situation, we went with his interested and placed a bunch of bath toys in the tub. This created some fun moments!

The best lesson to remember during first birthday photos, is to have an open mind and follow the baby’s lead. Playing the child’s favorite music and including a favorite toy are some ideas to help the session run smoothly. I also suggest having snacks on hand as well as several outfit options.
