Southlake Newborn Photographer – DFW Family Photographer

It is not often that I photograph a maternity session and the following week the baby is born! We had perfect timing with this mamma. On mother’s day, we photographed the maternity session at my Flower Mound studio. It was a wonderful way to celebrate motherhood. The following weekend, she ended up giving birth! If we waited the next weekend, it would have been too late!

The majority of times I photograph newborns at their home. It provides a peaceful and familiar setting for the family. There is no need to pack bags, multiple outfits, bottles, diapers, pacifiers, and all the other million things newborns could use. For new moms it can be stressful to travel and spend hours at a newborn session. This is the main reason I provide the service of coming to the clients’ home. At the home, I can photograph the nursery, important items like handmade blankets and even include pets. Don’t you love how the dog is protectively laying next to the baby in the bassinet?

When I come to the client, I bring several items to use. In my bag, I have multiple colored swaddle blankets, various headbands, white onesies, and best of all a Moses basket. Clients can choose to use my items, or use their own. I am happy to accommodate requests of using heirloom pieces and other items the parents would like to use.

Southlake Family Photographer – Summer Nights in Historic Grapevine – Main Street Grapevine Historic District

This family of five wanted the classic red brick style at Main Street Grapevine, along with the greenery and rustic features of the area. In a short distance there are always many options for portraits. I like to start at the classic archway at city hall. Then we use the white pillars followed by the city lights in the background blur. Next I like to walk around the corner where there is lush ivy and beautiful sunlight. Take a walk across the street, and the back of the log cabin as well as the brick walls of Messina Hoff Winery are also wonderful features in portraits.

This family paired their wardrobe wonderfully. My personal favorite is blue, and they pulled it off so well! Notice they used different shades of blue along with complimentary yellow tones. Each family member was comfortable and happy to wear their outfit. That is really an important part of a successful session, because it helps bring out the person’s genuine personality. In addition, I could not be happier about their clothing choices as they fit well with the different areas of Main Street.

DFW Wildflower Photographer

DFW Wildflower Photographer – One afternoon I ventured with my children and my friend to a beautiful field with indian paintbrushes. These vibrant flowers were a welcome change to the bluebonnets I spent a month photographing! This session is another reason why I love spring in Texas. The wildflowers bloom in waves, with bluebonnets starting of the season!

The indian paintbrush has a legendary story written by children’s author Tomie De Paola. A synopsis from Goodreads says:

“In spring, the hills and meadows of Texas and Wyoming are ablaze with the reds, oranges, and yellows of the Indian Paintbrush. How this striking plant received its name is told in an old Indian legend. Many years ago, when the People traveled the Plains, a young Indian boy had a Dream-Vision in which it was revealed that one day he would create a painting that was as pure as the colors of the evening sky at sunset. The boy grew up to become the painter of the tribe, but although he found a pure white buckskin for a canvas and made paints from the brightest flowers and the reddest berries, he could not capture the sunset.”

Goodreads

I love that Texas wildflowers are often accompanied by a legend. It makes the beauty of nature even more sacred. The legend of the bluebonnet goes as follows,

“When a killing drought threatens the existence of the tribe, a courageous little Comanche girl sacrifices her most beloved possession–and the Great Spirit’s answer results not only in much needed rain but a very special gift in return.”

Goodreads

Like the legend describes, the indian paintbrushes really to hold the colors of the sunset. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to capture these beauties.

Spring Portraits Dallas Photographer

Spring Portraits Dallas Photographer I had such fun photographing this family on a bustling spring evening! With lots of rain leading up to our day, I had my fingers crossed the clouds would part and the sun would shine! It turned out to be a perfect evening. Grapevine Botanic Gardens was busy with an influx of family portraits as well as high school senior photography. The park is so beautiful, there are always pedestrians enjoying the beauty. Despite the busyness, we captured some amazingly vibrant and radiant photographs. They are stunning! Might I add the family coordinated their outfits very well. Right down to accessories and shoes, this family hit it out of the ball park!

Grapevine Botanic Garden is such a versatile location! It is great for senior photography as well as maternity photography. The location is beautiful through many seasons of the year from spring to late fall. Even during winter, the stone architecture and iron bridges can provide scenery perfect for photographs.

Take a look at other sessions at this location!

This maternity session was photographed in the summer time. The flowers and greenery were in full bloom.

This High School Senior Session occurred during late spring. On this night the park was swarmed with prom groups. We still managed to find great photo opportunities!
