From the moment I first saw you, I knew it right away. I knew that you were the love of my life. Simply the love of my life, you are the love. The great love of my life.

My goal at newborn sessions is to capture the bond and love between family members. A combination of posed and candid moments help create that emotion.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are so wonderful for the client, because they occur in the comfort of your home. At the beginning of the session, I have the clients show me around the house in rooms they would like to use for photographs. We determine lighting situations, and then I make a plan of which rooms to use and what order. Common rooms include the baby’s nursery (or crib if there is not a nursery), the master bedroom, and possibly the living room. We can really use any room with a large window.

During the session, the entire family is photographed with the baby. Next, each parent is photographed alone with the child. If there are siblings, a group shot of all the siblings can occur as well as each sibling with the baby. Of course the newborn is photographed alone, too. Some families like to include pets! We can do that. I like to use places like the crib, blankets or rugs with designs and textures, as well as swaddled.

Something I love about newborn sessions, is we can include special family keepsakes. Some families have a special blanket to use. While others may have a piece of clothing, book, or other keepsake that carries special meaning. For example, in this session the baby has a family of pilots, so they used an Amelia Earhart book as well as wall art with a map that says “Adventure is in My Soul.” There are so many possibilities.
