Denton Fall Wedding | A Scottish Wedding

How do a Texas girl and a Scottish boy fall in love? A great ocean divides them. This couple’s start occurred when they met on a mission trip. From that first meeting they kept in touch long distance. Eventually, the groom moved to Texas to be with his love. Their time together grew from there and here they are celebrating a wedding!
The groom’s family traveled from Scotland to take part in this special day. All of the groomsmen sported kilts and received lessons on how to wear “skirts.” It was pretty comical hearing the do’s and don’ts! DO sit with your knees together! DON’T spread your legs when you sit.
We also received lessons about Scotland, like a “bunnet” is a type of hat. It can be any hat, even a cowboy “bunnet!” Also, the men’s socks are hiding a small dagger, or pocket knife. Another fun thing to learn was that the father of the groom far preferred Scottish whiskey over Texas whiskey! It was really honoring to see two cultures unite. Parents from two countries joined to celebrate their children’s wedding.

The ceremony was performed in a gorgeous chapel with vibrant stain glass windows and cathedral ceilings. It was breathtaking! This little chapel sits on the campus of TWU next to a beautiful garden and green house. The location is nestled between college buildings and is a bit of a scavenger hunt to locate! That makes it the best location for a wedding, hidden and secluded.

Don’t you adore their matching shoes! I love how brides and grooms choose footwear to compliment their personality and help tell their story. These two chose wisely with comfortable tennis shoes!
