Favorite Photography Locations in DFW
After being a photographer for over five years, I have found some locations that always offer a picturesque setting for many types of portraits from children to families to couples. Take a look at the overview the locations I use most frequently. I am very familiar with these settings throughout the seasons of the year.
Murrell Park
Murrell Park is a rustic location located on Grapevine Lake. There are many trails and grassy fields that create lovely golden tones at sunset or sunrise. The best times to photograph at Murrell Park are fall, spring, and summer. It offers a lovely backdrop of Texas natural environment.

Green Acres Farm Park
Green Acres Farm Historic Park is located down an old gravel road that leads to this beautiful open area that once was a farm. It is known for its white farm fence, silos, and the long horn cattle! There is a beautiful tree-line that turns golden at sunset. Morning sessions are great near the white fence and toward the back of the park along the walking path. It’s a large place that offers a variety of scenery.

Mandalay Canals
The Mandalay Canal Walk in Las Colinas is a unique Mediterranean setting that makes you feel like you have left Texas and are in another land like Tuscany. Stone architecture is lined with beautiful ivy while a canal runs between the two subterranean paths. Sometimes you might even spot a gondola gliding down the canal. The canals are an excellent setting for an elegant wardrobe.

Highland Park
The Highland Park area in Dallas offers mature trees, detailed landscaping, and at an upscale neighborhood. There are three locations I like to use on a regular basis including Flippen Park, Davis Park, and Highland Park Village. These three spots are close in proximity and offer beautiful scenery for elegant portraits.

This is located near I-35E Main Street exit. The location has a unique boardwalk as well as a historic old town brick section. It’s a quaint location with a variety of scenery.

Grapevine Botanic Garden
The gardens are close to Main Street Grapevine. It’s a small area perfect for small children. The gardens have flowers throughout the seasons, bridges, and koi ponds. The best time of year to go hear is for spring, summer, and fall.

Colleyville Nature Center
The nature center is a small park located in a Colleyville neighborhood. There is a large pond, walking paths in the woods, and a wooden bridge. View a session here.

This location is lovely during the spring, summer, and fall! It has beautiful trees and a lovely spring wildflower garden.
