Photography Locations for Texas Summers
Texas is known for it’s intense summer heat! It may not be an optimal time of year for photography, however there are options when the summer is the only time one can schedule portraits. Often, extended families are together in the summer, and I work with them to find the best option for summer family pictures.
Do a morning photo session.
The mornings usually have cooler temperatures, and the heat increases throughout the day. I suggest using a shaded location during the morning hours around 7am to 9am. It is an earlier time for pictures, but it is worth it! Everyone is more comfortable and then the rest of the day is available to do something fun together! I can provide a variety of locations throughout the metroplex that have lovely morning shade.

Schedule portraits at your home.
Do you have a residence that would be great for photographing your family? I am happy to visit your home to photograph your family! This particular family had lovely landscaping and plenty of room in their yard. Additionally, I have photographed families who are staying at a lovely AirBnB. Scheduling pictures at your home makes it very easy for everyone!

Schedule Pictures Indoors
Another options is to schedule pictures indoors at a studio. I love using the Lumen Room. There are two locations I love using. The Fort Worth location is near TWU. It has great natural lighting and plenty of props like couches and chairs that are available to use. Not to mention it has air conditioning and a bathroom.

The Dallas Lumen Room has two studios- a red brick and a white brick studio. They both have lovely lighting as well as props to use. One of my favorite things about the Lumen Room, is they equip their studio with speakers to listen to music. I can select any type of music for clients to listen to during their session. Music definitely helps people relax and enjoy the process.

Wild Oak Studio in Roanoke is a great option! After photos take a walk down to Hey Sugar for ice cream and candy or Babe’s Chicken House for fun dinner!
