Extended Family Portraits Coppell Tx
On Memorial Day weekend, we gathered to photograph this family with members visiting from throughout Texas and other states. It was the first time they had seen each other for several years. They were very eager to capture family portraits together! We met at Davis Park, located in a Highland Park neighborhood of Dallas, Tx. The location has beautiful stone pathways and towering trees that create a lovely canopy of shade. The light streams through the leaves creating a gorgeous glow. Also, the park has benches that provide a nice prop for large groups.
Extended Family Session Details
Many people are curious about the flow of an extended family session. I have a detailed session flow that ensures I capture a variety of poses. First, I photograph the entire group together. All of the generations are joined, making sure I place the matriarch and patriarch in the center. They are the guests of honor! Then I photograph the grandparents with their grandchildren, followed by the grandparents with their grown children. Next I capture a cousins and a grown sibling portrait. Following the blended family pictures, I photograph each family including sibling pictures and individual pictures of each child. Additionally, I may capture pictures of each couple. Ultimately, the combinations of portraits are limitless. I am happy to take requests. I often recommend that the family creates a list of arrangements that they must have. This helps make sure we don’t miss a pose. The best way to think of extended family portraits is to imagine portraits taken at a wedding immediately after the ceremony.
