Flower Mound Senior Portraits on the Lake

Flower Mound Senior Portraits on the Lake at Murrell Park

This was the first session of the season at Murrell Park, and the fall sunset did not disappoint! The golden hour tones lit up the trees creating a beautiful warm glow. As we walked down the trail through the woods, we came upon a group of deer led by a stag. It was such a beautiful sight!

Rustic nature was the perfect scenery for this young man who is graduating from Flower Mound High School. He just completed his Eagle Scout project and is anticipating a 12 day hiking trip in the summer. On his trip he will hike through the desert, mountains, and forest! What an exciting endeavor to look forward to, and in the meantime he is spending time endurance training for this lifetime of a hike with his troop.

Murrell Park was the perfect place for portraits! The environment suited the Eagle Scout so well! In addition to the woods, we ventured to the shore of Lake Grapevine. Due to an incredibly hot summer, the lake water is very low. It has uncovered endless new areas to explore including uncovered rocks and a sandy shore! This is one of my favorite things about photographing at the lake. Every year it is a bit different, which reveals new amazing photography scenery and areas to explore! The ever changing environment offers a great opportunity and challenge that will result in stunning portraiture!

There is something about these portraits that are reminiscent of my youth in the 90’s! Perhaps its the flannel and longer hair, but I feel that these pictures could have been featured on an album cover or two for a popular grunge alternative band!

Considering Senior Portraits?

When is the best time to schedule senior portraits? To avoid a rush and allow time to process your photographs as well as order announcements and print enlargements, I recommend senior portraits take place in the spring of junior year or in the fall of senior year. If you have lost track of time, have no fear! We can still create stunning portraits to cherish. Early spring such as March and April of the graduation year are options that work well.

Can we include a family during senior portraits?

Yes! If you’d like an updated family portrait during the senior session, please let me know! We can be sure to capture a great family portrait during this monumental time!
