Extended Family Portraits Grapevine Botanic Garden
Extended Family Portraits, Grapevine Botanic Gardens
Family members from across the country gathered in Dallas for Memorial Day weekend! They made sure to capture updated, extended family portraits. It’s always wise to do this when family from near and far is together! Since the weather warms up fast this time of year, we opted for morning photos in a lovely shaded garden in Grapevine. The quaint Grapevine Botanic Gardens is a beautiful place for spring portraits. Hybiscus florals are in full bloom, the trees are flourishing with leaves, and butterflies are plentiful! It’s such a delightful place to visit! The shade offers a reprieve from the sun. Also, the tree canopies provide shelter if the weather starts to sprinkle, like it did in these photos!

Convenient DFW Portrait Location
The Grapevine Botanic Gardens offer a convenient location for portraits. It is nestled in the heart of Grapevine, close to Main Street, and a short drive from the interstate. The centrality makes it an easy location to access, whether traveling from the Fort Worth or Dallas area of the metroplex. After pictures are finished, head to Main Street for dinner at one of the great restaurants or grab ice cream at Kilwins.

Wardrobe Planning for Extended Family Pictures
When planning for large group pictures, wardrobe selection can enhance the overall aesthetic of the photo while ensuring everyone feels comfortable and confident. Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect outfits for your extended family portraits:
1. Coordinate Colors
Choose a color palette that suits the setting and complements each family member’s unique style. Consider using three to five colors that blend well together, allowing for a cohesive look across the group.
2. Mind the Season
Select outfits that are appropriate for the season. Light fabrics and bright colors work well in spring and summer, while richer hues and layering are ideal for fall and winter.
3. Avoid Busy Patterns
While patterns can add interest, they can also distract from the subjects in the photo. Opt for simpler designs and solid colors, especially for the larger group, to ensure focus remains on the family.
4. Plan for Comfort
Encourage family members to wear outfits that they can move easily in. Comfortable clothing will help everyone feel relaxed during the photo session, resulting in more natural expressions.
5. Consider the Location
The backdrop can influence wardrobe choices. For a garden setting like the Grapevine Botanic Gardens, consider flowy dresses, light-colored tops, and floral prints that resonate with the surroundings.
6. Limit Accessories
While accessories can add a unique touch, too many can create clutter in the photo. Choose a few standout pieces that complement the outfit without overwhelming it.
7. Group Outfits
To help everyone coordinate, suggest a communal wardrobe theme. For example, if you choose denim and white shirts, family members can style these basics according to their personal flair—like adding a denim jacket or different styles of jeans.
8. Test the Look
Before the photo session, gather everyone for a quick outfit check, ensuring that each member’s attire fits well within the planned color scheme. This prevents clashing looks and helps to finalize any last-minute adjustments.
By following these tips, you’ll help your extended family look their best and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime!
