Wildfower Portraits in Richardson TX
Wildflower Portraits in Richardson Tx
Wildflower pictures are a Texas tradition. When I moved to Texas almost twenty years ago, a friend of mine told me all about the beautiful wildflowers that grow every spring! I didn’t understand the magnitude of their beauty until I saw them for myself! Year after year, I return to them! The varieties are plentiful, yet the locations are sparse. It takes persistence in scouting to discover the BEST places for wildflower photography. –Wildflower Portraits in Richardson Tx

Wildflowers in the Dallas Area
Dallas offers are variety of wildflower photography options throughout spring, starting as early as February or March. Tulips open the season! They’re plentiful at the Dallas Arboretum as well as Texas Tulips in Pilot Point. Next, bluebonnets make their arrival along road sides and in various meadows throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Following bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes, the arrival of poppies and mixed blooms pictured above starts to appear in early May. Moving into the heat of the summer, it is common to see cone flowers and black eyed Susans.
It’s essential to know the approximate time of peak bloom for each type of flower. Also, I must take time to find the best locations. There are essential factors I consider when selecting a wildflower photography site. First of all, the relation of the flowers to the east and the west is important. This allows me to optimize the golden light at sunrise or sunset. Next, I observe the surroundings for a beautiful landscape or obstacles that could interfere with photos. Last, I consider parking and safety. I always want to make sure my clients and I are in a safe environment. This forethought helps create beautiful photographic memories!
Spring Portrait Scheduling
Spring is a great time for family portraits. Many families alternate between fall and spring portraits to have a variety of family pictures throughout the years. Early in the season, I begin scouting locations. Sometimes, session offerings are short notice due to the unpredictable nature of weather in Texas. To stay up to date, be sure to follow me on social media- Facebook or instagram- where I will post updates on wildflower photography.
