Dallas Arboretum Senior Portraits
Coppell Graduate, Dallas Arboretum Senior Portraits in the Fall
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanic Garden is quickly becoming a favorite photography location! It is an expansive garden with multitudes of locations to use for photography. Each portrait session can have a unique look based on the variety of secluded and open space gardens found at the arboretum. During this senior portrait session we ventured into areas of the arboretum I had not photographed before. We used hidden walkways and included the grotto waterfalls. It was like I had discovered an entire new area for portraits. The best time of the day to go to the arboretum is usually the morning right when it opens. The crowds are light, so we have most of the place to ourselves. As the day proceeds, the crowds become overwhelming along with the harsh lighting that comes with mid day. Additionally, I prefer weekend mornings. After the time changes in the fall, just before closing on a weekday can be a good time as well. However, most people find weekdays inconvenient for the arboretum.

Many people want to know when it is the best time to plan senior portraits. The sooner, the better! I suggest contacting me in August to set a date on the calendar for September through November. The winter months can be challenging for photography limiting options due to weather and dormant vegetation. Spring photography starts in March, which is also a good time to set up portraits. However, some people feel rushed when they have senior portraits taken in the spring. Remember to take into account the time it takes to process the images, order invitations/ announcements, and mail them.
