When this mama contacted me to photograph her newborn pictures, I was so excited! She and her husband have a lovely family with such fun children. Photographing larger families is sometimes challenging, but so very rewarding to see portraits of the entire family together. This session involved lots of laughs, playtime, snacks, and even a wrestling break. Young children are active, so I made sure to incorporate that into our session. Helping them release energy created wonderful pictures!

What a blessing- this little baby is the first girl in the family! She has three adoring older brothers. Her parents are over the moon! It was such a great time including some girly touches to their pictures. The swaddle with the large pink bow was perfection! The older brothers have similar pictures with a blue bow! The simple colors- soft pink, baby blue, and white photographed so well in this session. The color palette is classic and timeless.

What should my family wear?

Dress your children in a class style such as J Crew and Boden. You can easily mix and match tops and bottoms to create a cohesive look. Dad’s look well dressed in a tailored shirt or polo from Ralph Lauren or L’acoste. Men can find these pieces at many clothing stores. Moms look great in flowing dresses with an empire waist. You can find this style at Baltic Born and Ivy City.

When should we have pictures taken?

It’s best to photograph newborns from one week to three weeks old. Older than three weeks, the babies have grown a bit and are awake more. They also tend to become a little more fussy as they are entering into a growth spurt. I know there can be unique situations, so please don’t hesitate to contact me even if your baby is past three weeks old. I am sure we can still create wonderful images!
