Joyful Family Photos at Lumen Room in Ft Worth

A long-time friend of mine loves to have family portraits taken with her grandchildren. Several times we have used the Lumen Room, because it is conveniently located close to TCU. This FROG family joins for pictures in the morning, then they head to the game! What a great tradition. At the time of this session, the children were five under the age of five! It made for an energetic, hilarous, and chaotic photo session. Bringing along jingle bells to grab the littles’ attention resulted in hearing jingle bells every time I look through these photos! Moms, dads, grandparents, and myself alike were all sweating midway through the session! We took it in stride knowing these pictures will not only serve as a visual memory, but also retain a special place that remembers the hectic yet joyful times small children bring.

Expect a mixture of candid and posed, but mostly candid!

I started the session with a large group photo while the children were fresh and tummies were full. I included some outtakes in the large group poses to show how the pose was great and started to derail quickly! However, with the right mindset, the adults took it as a moment to laugh and appreciate each other! When there are five kids under five, with the youngest being one, be ready to play and have fun!

While I captured the “everyone is looking at the camera, so let’s frame it” pose, I also love the shenanigans in action! It’s pretty great to have a sense of humor. It makes what can be a stressful session turn into a fun one with lasting memories!

Cousin Time

You can tell that although these children are cousins, they love each other like siblings! Their closeness to one another made it easier to photograph them together.

We wrapped up with a few portraits for the grown ups!

While the kids enjoyed some playtime, I made sure to photograph the adults. Imagine the noise in the background with five happy children and rapidly ringing jingle bells!
